It is the final week of the regular season and for the 32 teams in the National Football League (NFL), it is safe to say that the QB mix is very banged up. Here is a list of backup QB’s that will be starting for their respective teams:
Ravens- Ryan Mallet (Former with the Texans)
Bengals- AJ McCarron (Backup to Andy Dalton)
Colts- Josh Freeman (Free Agent), Ryan Lindley (Free Agent) OR Stephen Morris (Practice Squad)
Titans- Zach Mettenberger (Backup to Mariota)
Cowboys- Kellen Moore (Formerly with the Lions)
Texans- Brian Hoyer (Was battling for the starting job with Ryan Mallet)
Broncos- Brock Osweiler (Was second string QB behind Peyton Manning)
Rams- Case Keenum (Was on practice squad till Week 10-11)
49ers-Blaine Gabbert (backup to Colin Kaepernick to start the season)
That makes 9 NFL TEAMS and 11 BACKUP QB’s that will suit up and start for their team to finish the season.
In your opinion, what is the reason for the number of injuries that have been suffered by starting QB’s?
